I already acknowleged that people can do what they want based on personal preference. I don't think I've ever personally reinstalled because of an upgrade; the machine I'm writing this on was first installed more than a decade ago. FWIW, I've also got stuff in many directories other than /home that I care about, so backups are more important to me than only having /home.
