As for the package not being uploaded to the Debian repository, I have
already sent a sponsorship request on Debian mentors two weeks ago. I
was waiting for two weeks to pass before sending a new one.
I have just sent a new request [2].
Hopefully, it will get reviewed/sponsored soon.

I've filed a bug in LP but I have not had time to branch it to try to
find and fix the bug myself. It has been accepted. though I can't
remember the bug number off the top of my head.
