Hi again, After some browsing I found that Apache has moved away from the group-based authorization scheme. (see: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=23332792)
Unfortunately, it seems that in the default scheme, assigning issues to oneself (or others, apparently there's no difference) is now a task for a committer/pmc/administrator role. It doesn't seem as if there's a separate role from assigning to oneself vs to others. One thing we *can* do is request to have the alternative scheme listed for our project. I think we have to put in a request to infra for that, doesn't look like anything I can change, the link has a lock icon. For now, Abhinav, please tell us which bug you want assigned and a committer can do this for you.
