Well, I'm surprised nobody suggested that the error message might be in
tty1. Anyway, I managed to see that the error screen I got had tty1
written somewhere on it. So Ctrl+Alt+F1. Here's what it said (my
computer name is "home-ubuntu" and this message may not be exact since I
copied it on a piece of paper)

home-ubuntu login [ 123.468049] [drm: i810_wait_ring] *ERROR* space: 65520 
wanted 65528
[ 123.468124][drm: i810_wait_ring] *ERROR* lockup

I hope this helps in debugging... Do let me know if I need to extract
some other data also.
