What I mean is: I use several ethernet sources: Wireless Router (in Work), Wired Router (in home) and USB Modem (anywhere), so, I can say: is not a Internet conection problem. and just for general information: I have two accounts configured in empathy: GTalk and IRC Empathy 2.32.1
