Title:
Black screen/ system crash every single time I close and re-open lid

Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Every single time I close and then re-open the lid of my laptop I get
a black screen and no response to anything.

I just upgraded from 12.04 to 12.10 in the hope that it would help,
but it has made it worse. Previously, on 12.04, I could press
Alt+SysRq+K to get back to the login screen, but no even that doesn't
  work.
