I am amazed to get this message five years after the original report.

You people must get a medal for tenacity :-)

Nothing else from me. Please close the bug.

Title:
  Installing luatex causes bugs in texdoc

Status in “luatex” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  I have set texdoc environment variables in ~/.bashrc to handle online
  display of documentation on my Kubuntu Hardy system so:

  TEXDOCVIEW_dvi="/usr/bin/kdvi %s"
  export TEXDOCVIEW_dvi

  TEXDOCVIEW_pdf="/usr/bin/kpdf %s"
  export TEXDOCVIEW_pdf

  TEXDOCVIEW_html="firefox %s"
  export TEXDOCVIEW_html

  After installing luatex, and invoking texdoc for a PDF manual, I got
  the error message:

  sh: xpdf: not found

  The problem disappeared after removal of luatex. So, obviously, there
  is some crosstalk betwen luatex and texlive-base-bin which furnishes
  texdoc.
