Title:
Incorrect icon in system tray when running VPN over mobile broadband

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
In Kubuntu 13.10, using a mobile broadband connection, connected using
Network Manager as normal, in the system tray I get a small icon of a
mobile phone, as expected. Then after using Network Manager to connect
to a VPN using OpenVPN, instead of getting the mobile phone icon with
a padlock in the system tray, as in previous versions of Kubuntu, I
instead get a mobile phone icon with a "stop" symbol on it (red circle
  with diagonal line across it).

The icon in use here suggests that there is a problem with the network
connection, not that it is working with a VPN.
