... so yes it sounds like it might be a regression from some Mesa

  Windows buttons are gone for specific programs like Firefox, hexchat, 
photoprint,chromium
  (maybe more that i havent tested)
  on a black window header with disformed white letters as window title

  other programs have working buttons
