Thank you for your bug report. Do you get any error dialog displayed
before the hang?

Are you sure it's due to the dot and not the length of the filename?
Trying 'w.example.conf' it doesn't hang where it displays an error and
hand renaming the same file 'wireguard.example.conf'

Title:
  Adding  a wireguard VPN from file hangs the dialog if...

Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  When importing a wireguard configuration it consistently hangs up the
  dialog if the filename has more than one dot.

  I have several profiles like

  london.fast.conf
  pol.server.conf
  node.develop.aws.conf

  I tried all, all hangs up the dialog.

  When I remove the extra dots it works like charm.
