Applications and nominations are invited for the position of Professor and
Director of the School of Renewable Natural Resources in the Louisiana
State University College of Agriculture and the LSU Agricultural Center.

Location:  Baton Rouge, Louisiana

General Information: The faculty in the School of Renewable Natural
Resources consists of 28 professorial-level scientists, including ten in
forestry, four in the Louisiana Forest Products Laboratory, eleven in
wildlife, fisheries, and aquaculture, three adjunct faculty in the
Louisiana Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit, and an instructor at
the Lee Memorial Forest research area.   Louisiana has an abundance of
natural resources that are found in a diversity of terrestrial and aquatic
habitats ranging from coastal marshes to upland forests.  There are
currently 16 research associates and 75 graduate students in the School who
support faculty research projects on topics such as softwood and hardwood
forest resources, efficient manufacturing and marketing of forest products,
coastal marsh restoration, upland game management, waterfowl ecology,
non-game wildlife management, invasive species, riparian land use impacts
on streams, and freshwater fisheries production.  Faculty currently offer
over 60 courses to the 120 undergraduates enrolled in the School.  Six
faculty members have extension appointments, with major areas of emphasis
in urban forestry, commercial forestry continuing education, forest
products development and outreach, and coastal and marine fisheries
management.  The School continues to build research, extension, and
teaching programs of regional, national, and international excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:  The successful candidate will have leadership
and administrative responsibility for developing excellence in research,
teaching, and extension at a major land-grant university.  Specific duties
will include: (1) administration of basic and applied research and
extension programs in renewable natural resource management, (2)
coordination and development of  faculty teaching activities and curricula
for two undergraduate and five graduate degree programs, (3) recruitment
and professional development of faculty, staff, and students, (4) budget
preparation and management, including management of McIntire-Stennis funds,
and (5) representation of the School to the University administration, to
other University units, and to public and private agencies and stakeholder
groups at the local, regional, national, and international levels.

Qualification Requirements:  Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Forestry,
Wildlife, Fisheries, or a closely related field, with demonstrated
excellence in research, extension, and teaching, and qualifications
necessary to hold a tenured academic rank of Professor in the School.
Administrative experience and evidence of strong leadership as well as
personnel and financial management skills in a multi-disciplinary unit are
highly desired, as is proven leadership with private and public
stakeholders.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and
