The exploit is of RPC DCOM. This service was introduced with NT.

The worm was written to exploit this hole on XP and 2000 boxes only, although
NT boxes may crash from the assault.

MS released patches for XP and 2000, but not NT because it is no longer supported.

MS just released 5 new security advisories on Wednesday. These are serious
holes in VB for applications and portions of their Office suite.
