No, that one just means you're not on Linux. You get similar information via 'otool' on OS X. Fink won't honor your environment variable settings, so setting them yourself won't do anything. The issue here is that kile is looking for the xmkmf program as its indicator for whether X is installed. Apple got rid of that.
