To backup any of the databases with VM snapshots or similar mechanisms a series of special preparation and post-backup steps must be fulfilled, or database should be in "archivelog" (Oracle) mode. You can use nbackup to lock database before VM snapshot, in this case only delta will be at risk. However, nbackup-only solution is not smart, since it does check an integrity of database, as gbak does. We recommend to use combination of nbackup and gbak.
