Add the lines, make reinstall and see if Gnome picks it up..

I got it fixed, I ran "make rmconfig-recursive" on gutenprint and CUPS and rebuilt them making sure gutenprint was set to use CUPS. this forced some other stuff to work and now it actually has the postscript driver listed for my printer and it fully works in gnome now. never had to touch /etc/make.conf.

I find it kind of self defeating for the ports if you HAVE to add stuff to the /etc/make.conf file for it to work without any documentation telling you to do so or not doing it automatically (Like PERL did)
