Good afternoon to everybody, I want to invite all of you to this Bangor
Sister City event:
Teresa Perez knows something about stealing
elections...
Reclaiming our democracy:
North
and South
Sunday,
October 17, 6
PM Unitarian
Universalist Church 120 Park St., Bangor.
Teresa is from El Salvador, whose 1984 elections featured
voters placing ballots in transparent ballot boxes under the trained eyes of
armed soldiers.
On November 3 Teresa will watch an election in a different country...
OURS.
She is part of an
international election observer team monitoring the election in Florida for
fraud.
Teresa also knows something about stealing economies
She has long
been part of the social justice movement in El Salvador, resisting
the economic assault of the wealthy on the rest.
This year, class war waged by the wealthy applies to a different country, as
well... OURS.
She now works
with U.S. – El Salvador Sister Cities Network, which aims to link
communities North and South contending with struggles that look more and
more alike.
Speaking with Teresa is Bangor native Jesse
Kates-Chinoy,
Jesse has done popular education and youth organizing
in El Salvador since 2001 Together, Jesse and Teresa now
coordinate the U.S.-El Salvador Sister Cities Network in El
Salvador.
Suggested donation $10 for dinner and
presentation. Proceeds support the work of US – El Salvador Sister
Cities.
