A dozen of attended Jonathan Linowes [1] presentation of Xaraya [2], a content management system that's growing into a web application framework. Xaraya is licensed under the GPL, based on PHP 4, a fork of PHPNuke, with support for SQL engines like MySQL, PostgreSQl and SQLLite.

Jonathan gave a good overview slideshow of the features, history and design goals of Xaraya and the brought for display a number of sites he had developed in Xaraya, showing the administrative access and the interfaces for adding and modifying content.

Xaraya released version 1.0 in November of 2005.

The product is well worth a look for folks looking for a community site or CMS and a bit more (blogs, wikis, RSS, polls, etc.).

Thanks to Jonathan for the presentation and to Bill McGonigle for organizing the meeting!
