To build from a tarball, untar it and use the shipped install.sh. To avoid an svn update each time, declare "block_step svn_up" in your custom.sh. If you need different paths, change REPOS_DIR and REL_REPOS_DIR accordingly. I usually only change GLOBAL_DIR, BTW.
