No, 1.4M, even compressed, isn’t terribly large. My main database is about 7M compressed, 53M uncompressed. There are a couple of open bugs on a similar problem, one of which, bug 782144 <https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=782144>, has a long chain of things we’ve tried to isolate the problem. You should probably read that before you start your own debugging.
