Yes to all except for the automatic part. The first user to open the file will 
get the lock and everyone else who subsequently starts GnuCash will get the 
“Can’t get the lock” dialog on which they can select “Open Read Only”. There’s 
no way to tell GnuCash to open the file read only if the lock is available.
