Hi Arwin!

This is a novel idea and they were in touch with me sometime back. I really
had no time to concentrate but now guess will have time to devote to this novel
idea and we must all join hands and go ahead. I will put up the matter to Goan
Welfare Society - Kuwait. I am sure our brothers here will embrace with open
arms for such genuine causes

With all the best wishes
Wilson Coelho

[GOAN-NRI] Re: Goa-America Heart Foundation

Dear Goans,

This week, I had the opportunity to meet some dedicated Goans in the USA;
pursuing an impressive not-for-profit project i.e. Goa-America Heart Foundation.

We should all support such noble foundations; surely it involves a lot of hard
work & selfless dedication, by the respective people. Please see the details
below and on the website mentioned.

Kindly contact them directly should you need further details.

Dear Arwin,
It was a pleasure meeting you. My hat off to you for your enthusiasm in trying
to make a difference and in bringing some identity to Goa. Your power point
presentation was indeed uplifting and I am very appreciative of the effort you
put in to generate the same. Best of luck to you in this endeavour.

As Neville mentioned, we are part of the team working on the Goa-America Heart
Foundation (GAHF) project.

The Trustees in Goa under the direction of Ian Martin are doing a wonderful job
in making this project a reality and have been diligently working on it for few
years. Please visit our website www.gaheartfoundation.org. Attached is a
brochure (front and back) that we had put together for Phase 1 of this project.
We are very much interested in obtaining funds for both phases of this
project. Details of both phases are given below. If you have any questions,
please feel free to contact me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] I am based in New Jersey.
We are counting on you to help spread the word about this not-for-profit
project by contacting Goans in the Middle East, and requesting them to assist
financially.
Best regards,
Christopher Nunes
Secretary, GAHF, Inc
Trustee of GAHFT
Who we are
Goa-America Heart Foundation (GAHF) is a not-for-profit organization,
established to promote state-of-the-art cardiac care in Goa.
The idea of creating Goa-America Cardiac Center (GACC) in Goa originated from
Dr. Daniel Neville Mascarenhas, interventional cardiologist practicing in
Pennsylvania and New Jersey in the United States of America. He has been the
driving force behind this project.
The Trustees of GAHF are professional individuals who are established in their
respective professions in the USA and in India, driven by a desire to help our
homeland in the area of health care in general and cardiac care in particular.
GAHF Inc., seeks to galvanize the Indian community in general and the Goan
community in particular as well as the international community, to embrace this
project of providing cardiac care in Goa, and to support it with their
financial, material and professional resources, and by contributing their time
and skills.
GAHF Inc. will remain the primary vehicle to raise funds and disburse them, as
outlined in the mission statement below. GAHFT, as explained in the mission
statement below will be involved directly in negotiation for, and acquisition
of, property and equipment needed to provide the care. It will supervise and
monitor the operations initially of the cardiac clinic and later of the cardiac
care center, and its quality of care.
GAHF, Inc. is a duly registered not-for-profit corporation in the State of New
York in U.S.A. with approval from Internal Revenue Service for 501(c)3 tax
exempt status for US donors. It has an operational charter and by-laws
governing procedures and the business to be undertaken by the corporation. The
office holders of GAHF do not receive any remuneration for their services.
There are currently no administrative costs associated with the organization,
as time, skills and facilities have been provided by its members and
well-wishers in India and abroad on a no-cost basis.
Vision
Goa-America Heart Foundation seeks to provide affordable cardiac care to Goans
regardless of caste, creed or socio-economic status. It will place particular
emphasis on preventive care, and on educating the public on the importance of
prevention, particularly in the area of Cardiovascular Health.
Mission
The Mission is to raise funds to establish a cardiac center in Goa, India. In
the first phase, we plan to start a cardiac outpatient diagnostic clinic in JMJ
Hospital. This will entail purchasing the necessary equipment and materials and
staffing the clinic. Financial support will be required as we continue the
process of phased expansion of care and services culminating in the
establishment of a cardiac center, and until it becomes self sustaining.
Towards this end, we have instituted two separate but linked organizations.
GAHF Inc. (Goa-America Heart Foundation Inc.), based in the USA, will be
responsible for raising the funds that will finance the project. GAHFT
(Goa-America Heart Foundation Trust), based in Goa, will be involved directly
in negotiation for, and acquisition of, property and equipment needed to
provide the care. It will supervise and monitor the operations of the cardiac
clinic and the cardiac care center. GAHFT will only raise funds from donors in
India.

Goa-America Heart Foundation will serve as a conduit for the Goan community
overseas with moral obligation to contribute to, and support, the advancement
of the health care of the people of Goa. It will also invite the financially
well off individuals and businesses in India to participate in improving the
collective health and welfare of its citizens in Goa.
Goa-America Heart Foundation will facilitate the development of education
materials on cardiac health, and preventive care. It will arrange voluntary
services of medical professionals in India and abroad, to assist initially at
the cardiac clinic and later at the cardiac center.
Goa-America Heart Foundation will strive to ensure that the cardiac care center
will be a model of excellence in medical care.

Goa-America Heart Foundation (GAHF) is fortunate to be associated with JMJ
(Jesus, Mary and Joseph) Hospital, a recognized medical institution in Alto
Porvorim, Bardez, Goa. It is located approximately 3 miles (5 kms.) from the
Mandovi Bridge on the national highway to Mapusa.
After a search lasting a few years, we have finally found a facility to
associate with. JMJ Hospital shares our vision, and is compatible with GAHF,
and our mission. Initially, we will start with a cardiac out patient diagnostic
(OPD) clinic located in the hospital.
The need for a cardiac care facility in Goa, available to the common man, was
apparent to many Goans in the Diaspora.
In due course, our goal is to expand beyond the initial cardiac clinic, with
the ultimate goal of a cardiac center that will be named Goa-America Cardiac
Center. Negotiations are currently underway to establish the same.
GAHF Inc. has taken upon itself the responsibility of providing financial
assistance to fund and subsidize this worthy cause. With generous contribution
from compassionate people, in Goa and abroad, who share the same vision, and
who have the desire to give something back to our homeland, we can see this
dream come to fruition.

Campaign Capital needs
Phase 1 - Cardiac outpatient diagnostic clinic - outpatient services in
existing JMJ Hospital and community/village teaching and screening outreach.

center and to give back to Goa, has made a significant contribution towards the
start-up of this clinic. This clinic will be named in memory of his father.
Phase 2 - Erection of a Goa-America Cardiac Care Center - This will provide
advanced cardiac care, including but not limited to, coronary angiography,
coronary angioplasty and stent placement. Estimated cost : US $3.5 million,
which includes construction of the hospital building, road/ parking/

Phase 2 - the Cardiac Hospital, is in the midst of completion of legal
formalities. As such, we could not provide details. This phase of
establishing a cardiac care facility is estimated to take approximately 3
years.

GAHF Inc. earnestly solicits help from all parties interested in helping with
this worthwhile project, in an underserved area of Goa, India. We are hoping
that Goans in the Middle East will assist in funding this project.
