INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON NATURAL AREA TOURISM

The School of Business Studies and Management of St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, Goa, is organizing a two day international seminar on the theme, “Natural area Tourism: Impacts, Planning and Management ” on February 14th and 15th, 2008, at the International Centre Goa, Dona – Paula, Goa, in association with the Directorate of Tourism – Government of Goa, the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa and International Centre Goa.

St. Xavier’s College of Arts, Science and Commerce is a premier educational institution in Goa and has been awarded the status of “College with Potential for Excellence” in 2004, by UGC and is thus nationally recognized as one of the 47 best Colleges in India, out of the total 15,000 existing Colleges. The College has been reaccredited with an A grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The College is affiliated to Goa University and has 26 undergraduate departments and 2 post graduate departments.

Natural area Tourism is tourism in natural settings, but has the added emphasis of fostering understanding and conservation of the natural environment. The best practices followed in other parts of India and around the world will be helpful to Goa. The topics to be deliberated at the seminar include the following:-

Nature Reserves, National Parks, Protected Landscapes, Natural monuments, Habitat, Biodiversity Tourism, Beach Coastal Tourism, Mountain Tourism, Monsoon Tourism, Marine Tourism, Rural Farm Tourism, Wild life Tourism

Papers on the above topics are invited. Hard Copy and Soft Copy of the text neatly typed with double spacing, along with an abstract not exceeding 300 words on A4 size paper should be submitted latest by 5th January 2008, to the Organizing Secretaries Ms. Sumina Da Costa OR Ms. Maya Talwadkar at St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, Goa.
