Portuguese Day at St Xavier’s, Mapusa

St Xavier’s College, Mapusa in association with Fundação Oriente and Instituto Camões will be celebrating ‘Portuguese Day’ on December 5th in the college hall. The theme of the event is ‘Portugues Sem Fim’, depicting Portuguese culture. The Chief Guest, Consul General of Portugal in Goa, Dr.Paulo Pocinho Neves along with the Guest of Honor, Dr. Adelino Rodrigues da Costa, Delegado, Fundação Oriente, will grace the occasion. Dr. Delfim Correia da Silva, Director of Instituto Camões, will address the public on the influence of Portuguese culture on present day Goa in relation with the theme.

Events and competitions such as painting on clay and ceramic tiles using Portuguese tones (Arte Do Barro, Arte Do Azulejo), Monlogue competition (Monologo), presentations depicting the culture of any Portuguese speaking country or their region (O Expresso de Lusofonia) and many more events are the highlights of the day. Portuguese snacks and desserts making contest will be open for the general public (Manjares Portuguses: Petiscos e Sobremesas). The competitions will be open for schools, higher secondary schools and colleges. Last date for registration is 2nd December 2009.
