A Goan friend of mine who runs an IT company in Goa called me the other day. He
needs
some software engineers with particular skill sets for a project he is getting
from
Europe. He is not finding a Goan.
I posted a notice on some Goan forums here in Bangalore where Goan software
engineers
hang out. But given that the skill set is rare, one may or may not get a Goan.
The project
is crucial and if he doesnt get people within a week, the project will be lost.
What should he do ? I suggested to him that a non-Goan, if he is willing to
relocate to
Goa, is the best choice in the absence of getting a Goan.
This is the situation my friends and it happens time and again. One needs better
solutions than shouting from the rooftops that Goan identity is getting lost.
