Hostess talking about an antenna problem at Emirler accounting for irregular operation. Not recording, and hard to understand every word anyway, but we need to know exactly what she said about this. Did anyone get it? Attempting to enumerate the listeners called: 1) Francis, Ireland. 2) Mohammed, Malaysia. 3) Alan Holder, UK - spends a lot of time with and very glad to hear from him, long-time listener, since 1970? And he will be 70 next month. He wonders if 11785 problem may be due to maintenance, or shift changes. Ricky Hein, SD, called thrice that 11785 and 6165 are not funxioning properly and signal not reliable at all, 11785 SINPO 15111, and all-twos? in 6165 [of course 6165 is not toward NAm unlike ex-6125 at 0400 in B season]. Alan Holder also says 11785 has been missing some Sunday transmissions. Asked the Emirler staff and they said the antenna for American continent is out of use, and the replacement antenna is not working as it should. Rain prevents trux from moving around the ground for repairs, and afraid it will not improve very quickly. This time I recorded the opening via UTwente, and that helped to quote her accurately. Well, *when* they are on, 11785 and 7275 seem to be plenty strong as if with a proper antenna. Alan Holder also replies: ``Hi Glenn, My recent e-mail was featured on "Letterbox" yesterday and since I always keep recordings of such events, I am sending these on to you. The presenter read out my message in full. The lady now regularly hosting the show is Seher Cemre Turan. She appears to prefer to be called by her middle name. Only recently did I find out that in Turkish, the letter 'c' is pronounced 'j' (as in John). Therefore it's "Jemre" with the stress on the Jem. So it seems that the North America antenna is only a temporary affair. The original may have been damaged by bad weather and must have collapsed. The irregularity of the 2200 UT broadcast cannot be wholly explained by the use of the temporary antenna. Also, the 2030 broadcast on a different antenna is off air on some days, as you know. I checked some time ago and at 2200, only one transmitter appears to be in use. All five units are on air at one point in the daytime (including the one jamming Dengê Gel until 1600). I reckon they reserve late night hours local time for transmitter maintenance. Wolfgang Bueschel also pointed out that some HFCC listings for TRT include 300 kW power, which means that they have (or will) install a new transmitter at Emirler. {WRTH says they already have 5 x 500 kW} By the way, I remember the situation at Kol Yisrael's Yavne site when one of their curtain antennas was damaged by severe gale force winds back in 2002. The antenna was in place but some of the elements were broken. They had to hire a mobile crane with a reach of 100 metres and it was about a nine month wait before repairs could be done. Only then was the ground solid enough to support the crane (and this in Israel's relatively dry climate). If the thing toppled over, you can imagine the damage that would result. Belated best wishes to you on your 80th birthday, Glenn. Alan Holder, G4ZBH, Isle of Wight, U.K.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785, Apr 21 at 2310, VOT English not off the air but JBA direct vs HNL. I guess some unknown USA program/net must have mentioned CJOB. I don`t find any 93.9 in connexion with it. 92.9 does not correlate with WMC 790 either, but I find that WMFS 680 & 92.9 is a ``sister station`` to WMC.
