Is this why you guys seem to have abandoned updating the filters for people not paying for the premium anti-spam or using Imail 8.1x

http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-20030513-DM01.htm

Last time these filters were updated was nearly two months ago on 10/12/2005

Hi All,

<AntiSpamPlug>

We continue to update our standard antispam that is included with IMail
Server - glad to hear it's working well. We also offer Mail-Filters for our
premium antispam which is part of the coming soon IMail Secure Server.
Starting in a few weeks when IMail 2006 and IMail Secure Server 2006 ship,
you no longer have to purchase the full collaboration suite in order to get
premium antispam. Here is a link that provides more details about the
premium antispam.
http://www.ipswitch.com/products/collaboration/spam.asp

Our customers seem to be happy with the results but I invite other IMail
premium antispam customers to provide their own experiences. Customers
mostly turn on the antispam and let it run - very low maintenance. False
positive rate is about 1 in 500,000 and spam is recognized in 30 languages.
I personally have stopped filtering through my Spam folder (checking for
false positives) and some folks have actually removed the rule that
populates the Spam folder and instead deletes all mail marked as spam
straight away, automatically. Updates are delivered as frequently as every
10 minutes, 24x7x365.

As you might guess, having solid antispam protection is very important to
Ipswitch (and any company for that matter). As a software provider for 15
years, we send 10's of millions of emails every year, have active mailing
lists (such as this one), active forums, blogs, newsletters, etc. This all
adds up to Ipswitch getting hit with tons of spam every minute of every hour
of every day. We basically went out and looked for an antispam vendor that
we could use for Ipswitch and that we could offer to our customers that was
easy to configure and affordability and we think we have that now.

Feel free to ask any questions.

</AntiSpamPlug>

bye for now,

kg

Nope, for that, normalization mus be turned on. And this is too dangerous
and generates tons of false/positives.

IMail does a great job with this literal things with normalizing set to off.
Imagine, how many variants of some specific words you have to type in.

Yep, take a beer or two and relax.

Like i said before, maybe i have to run two antispam engines and maintain
two phrase sets until the old one is obsolet.

This depends also, how the future plans regarding the anti spam tools from
Ipswitch are.

I know, lots of you here in our club are not really a fan of the anti-spam
tools from IMail, but it works pretty good, thanks to our monster phrase
list and url block list.

The only problem is actually those silly spam mails containing a simple
image only. A third party anti spam tool would give me the oportunity the
serve our future SmarterMail customers too. Declude would be the product,
which runs on both products.
