You can install 8.22 (and patch it) and select "Activate Later" when you launch "the smiley man". Nothing (according to techsupport) is restricted...except that you have to have activated it within 30 days or it will shut down.

Since you have an SA you should have a key for 8.22. You can download 8.22
from our support pages and there is a link in the KB
article I posted as
well.
