SRT files are those saved for the Web MSG 'Options/Preferences'. These files
may contain other information and/or duplicates of some of the data may be
stored in other places (registry/ext DB). Sorry, I've not seen or heard of
anything that describes all the data it might contain.

No, they are not really for the usage you suggest. Yes, they are created and
updated as users manipulate their 'Preferences', so could show date/time
that this user accessed the mailbox via Web MSG, but that is not the
intention of the files.

Not sure about what you might have read here in the forum. I do not remember
that particular discussion (but maybe the archives do!). Removal of the
files should not cause any harm (but I've not really tested everything) that
I have encountered so far (maybe the duplicate info is all that is need to
reconstruct a new .srt file).

Maybe the fact that IMail is having some trouble writing the .srt files, is
related to the blank screen problem?

I do know that a .srt file is not needed to gain access to the users
mailbox. And that it is created when one gets to the Summary screen. File is
deleted when one 'Saves' the preferences (data saved in Reg/ext db). I'm
almost positive there are other actions that could cause the file to be
rewritten (deleted some email messages and time on srt file changed).

There was a discussion on srt files a couple of weeks ago, between myself
and another forum member (trying to replicate the Web settings for other
users). That basically resolved that one could not do this using the srt
files for this, but could by modification of the registry and the Type field
for that user.
