There are always people who'll be offended by questions that have been repeatedly asked, and expend twice the effort it takes to say 'Do a search' or 'RTFM' to simply berate them and prove how big the platters in their new 7200RPM drive are. Anonymity and the ability to let off your frustration by ripping a stranger halfway across the globe can be quite intoxicating. I don't have a big deal with it. Most times I get a kick out of how wound up some people get by otherwise insignificant details. Sure, I normally Google the heck out of something before asking, but if I feel it's quicker just to pop on and ask 'How's this work?' in the midst of searching for it...that's everyone else's problem if it's been asked before, not mine. I'll still get the answer somewhere and they'll get to provide fodder for weeks of discussion on message board manners. So beyond that, I actually do have a question valid to the mailing list... What exactly are the only acceptable relay options for a server so I don't end up on ORDB? Should people reply in a polite way? Yes. But people ought to also try to find the solutions to problems themselves before using someone elses time. People aren't perfect, and thus we ought to be a little more tolerant of basic questions as well as peoples frustrated reactions to these question. Everyone has room for improvement. We should take into account that the person asking the question may have had the resposibility thrust upon them, and may be facing the possibilty of losing their job, and thus are doing this in 'panic'. We should also take into account that if we get a 'rude' response to a question the person responding prolly is atleast taking time and answering your question even if they do it rude, and when they are responding to common questions that the answer is out there for, they can't spend it answering a question that there may not be an answer anywhere else for. If you have ever asked a 'dumb' question(and who hasn't), you really not in a position to criticize others for doing the same. If you have ever answered someone's question rudely(and who hasn't) for any reason, you shouldn't take offense to someone else doing so.
