Question: What happens when your clients gets an automated email from a hotel/airline reservation system? An automated email from their stock trading company? Confirmation of an order from Amazon, etc, etc, etc...
Answer: They will NEVER get those email messages.
If you don't want to purchase an additional anti-spam (MXGuard, IMGate. Declude, etc...) solution for your Imail server you can tweak the built-in IMail anti-spam settings to be quite efficient.
That is all that we do and we are finding (stats current as of midnight last night) that 93% of the mail coming in-bound to us is spam and our false positive rate is only 0.10% (31 falsely identified as being spam) out of 33,698 emails received over the past 10 work days. Certainly there are false negatives that still get through (I average about 15 a day myself) but 31,343 were deleted/blocked.
We have yet to have a SINGLE client complain about not receiving an email they were expecting.

I've gotten requests from clients that would like to offer or obtain the same level of spam screening. They would like to send out a one item auto-responder, then review the response in a form. If the person is one they would like to allow to send them email them accept the submission. If not they deny, Then there is a database of accepted names that allow only those emails through. All others are rejected. Merits? Declude type add on as a gateway? Anyone else using this?
