Update: I managed to cause this crash with gamescope's force-grab-cursor mode.

The crash only happens when the panel is set to automatically hide or dodge
windows and your mouse is touching the screen edge where the panel is when
gamescope is refocused.

Here are more reliable steps to reproduce this crash.

1. Set any panel to auto-hide or dodge windows.
2. Launch any application under gamescope using the --force-grab-cursor and
--fullscreen parameters.
I used glxgears so the command that I used was:
        gamescope --fullscreen --force-grab-cursor -- glxgears
3. Switch focus to your panel
4. Move the mouse to the screen edge where the panel is.
5. Switch focus back to gamescope and move the mouse immediately after. (by
alt-tabbing or by clicking the task manager entry)
6. Crash
