Title:
After replacing the original HDD in my Acer Aspire ES1-311-C4Q6 with
an ADATA 240GB SSD I installed Ubuntu 20.04.1 from a Linux Format
magazine DVD. The installation appeared to complete correctly.
However, on rebooting the laptop there was no response to the
Touchpad. Using "less /proc/bus/devices" results in a list that shows
  no touchpad or mouse detected.

Status in linux-signed-hwe-5.13 package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
The original 1TB HDD was installed with Windows 8.1 and the Touchpad
operated correctly under this. The SSD has previously been unused,
other than to install Linux Mint, and Ubuntu version 19.1, which also
  failed to detect the Touchpad.
