Rate : open Description . The role is to ensure the stable operation of the corporate computer network. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. Operate and tune Linux systems, servers, and related components to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported engineering and business applications. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure Linux system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. Manage and/or provide guidance to other members of the Engineering Systems team. The person will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required Responsibilities Strategy & Planning . Perform network design, security and capacity planning. . Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery. . Establish service level agreements with end users. . Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for Linux systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers. Formal Education & Certification . College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 12 years equivalent work experience. . Cisco certifications desired. Knowledge & Experience . Working technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Cisco, HP ProCurve. . Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards. . Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws. . Specific knowledge of all major Linux distributions required. . Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux servers, networks, and clusters. . Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience. . Working technical knowledge of coding using Perl, CGI, C, shell scripting. . Good technical knowledge of current network hardware and standards. . Extensive support experience with NetApp and/or EMC Clarion filers. . Familiarity with TCP/IP protocols, firewall management. .
