Position: Unix/Linux Specialist
Location: Houston , TX Duration: 6+ months Need: URGENT The Re-platform UNIX/LINUX Specialist will have the following responsibilities which will be part of a bigger effort to re-platform a legacy application from HP UNIX 11i and Oracle 9i to RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) 5.4/5.5 and Oracle 10g.: 1. Analyze an existing UNIX 11i environment to assess the impact of migrating it to LINUX 5.4/5.5. The analysis will be done to the depth required to have a high confidence (90/10) in the detailed OS migration plan (one of the inputs into the overall re-platform plan). 2. Define a detailed plan to migrate UNIX 11i to LINUX 5.4/5.5. 3. Migrate* OS Application components and configurations from UNIX to LINUX. Such components and configurations will include (not an exhaustive list): a. KSH scripts b. ERP extracts including security c. Cron scheduling using SQL loader utility d. Control-M scheduling e. Connect Direct f. C-Programs 4. Provide hands on UNIX/LINUX related support to Application Developer who will be migrating Visual Basic Application code (includes written in Visual Basic 6.0, Classic ASP and PL/SQL) from UNIX to LINUX Oracle 9i on UNIX to Oracle 10g on LINUX 5. Provide hands on UNIX/LINUX related support to DBA who will be migrating all database components from Oracle 9i on UNIX to Oracle 10g on LINUX.
