*Looking Ahead!*

An Evening with Winston Churchill: History at play
<https://lincolnpl.assabetinteractive.com/calendar/an-evening-with-winston-churchill-history-at-play/>

*Friday, September 10, 7:15 pm to 9:00 pm*

In this livestream episodic series, Pay-Per-HAP encounters Winston
Churchill on March 15, 1946, ten months after the end of World War II in
Europe. His thoughts turn to the dark days early in the war, when England
was embattled against Hitler’s Nazi forces virtually without aid. Churchill
recalls the unconquerable will of the British people as well as his
friendship with President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. In the final moments
of his speech, Churchill may issue a warning about a growing threat in
Eastern Europe. Along the way, he shares his characteristic wit, as well as
his famous eloquence.

Kevin Radaker (PhD, Penn State) served as Professor of English at Anderson
University in Anderson, Indiana, from 1987 to 2021. Since 2016, he has
offered his dramatic portrayal of Winston Churchill over 40 times in seven
states. Since 1991, he has presented his portrayal of Henry David Thoreau
over 400 times around the nation, including six performances in Concord,
Massachusetts, Thoreau’s lifelong town of residence. Since 2009, he has
presented his portrayal of author C. S. Lewis in seven states and in
Beijing, China. Besides teaching courses in American Literature, Modern
Drama, and writing, Radaker served as chair of the English department at
Anderson University for twenty-five years (1988-2013). Additionally, he has
presented numerous papers on Thoreau and other authors at academic
conferences and has published scholarly articles on Thoreau, Melville,
Annie Dillard, and Wendell Berry. To learn more about his first-person
dramatic portrayals, visit: www.winstonchurchilllive.com.
