Quoting Adir Abraham, from the post of Fri, 10 Jun: > I can tell you personally that this is not the first project in schools in > Israel. don't know about Linux workstations (there was always the problem of clashing with the Matakh software collection) but I can tell you that back in 1995 I installed Linii at Gilo Highschool in Jerusalem, while reln and roji installed it at Leyada (both were the first two schools with Internet connection in Israel that year). Then followed the Ramat Gan project, I think 2 years later. there are other community projects that will be glad for such volunteers, btw. If any Jerusalemites are interested, there's a project called Lev Yerushalayim, I can get you the contact for the project leader - a volunteer project for extracuricular computer ed for children in the shabbier parts of the downtown. He contacted me a year ago about hardware donations (though I could not help him at the time), but maybe he'll also be open to hear some ideas about FOSS as well. -- Man muse Ira Abramov http://ira.abramov.org/email/ ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
