LyX without XForms?

LyX could be a useful part of a free operating system if only it could
run without XForms.  Is there any chance you could modify it to use a
free toolkit--perhaps GTK?

I know that is probably not an easy job.  But LyX will probably be
around for years, and in the fullness of time, this will be a small
part of the work you do.
