Hello,

I do not get this?
Why autolabelling?
How implemented?
What exactly do you mean?

Do you mean that the entire caption text would be the label? -> No good.
Imagine an automatic Figure label from a caption string like this.

                      Saddle \begin_inset Forumula \( x^2+y^2+4xy\)
\end_inset with the "riding direction" \begin_inset
Forumula \( x=y \)
                      \end_inset

Do you mean that the label would be something like
Figure1, Figure2. ... ? No good, what happens if you put a Delete or insert a
figure in the text.
If autolabelling by enumeration would be a great idea, it would have been
implemented on formulas,
which it isn't for very good reasons.

In my opinion, normal labels with logical reference names
are the straightforward implementation for ALL references.
That's one of the most beautiful features in LaTeX .
(It is a pain to use LaTeX without a having access to the luxury ** program LyX,
which picks up the most usable parts of LaTeX to us.).
The insertation of references should as now be done with insert-reference
(meta-i-r).

Why insertation of a reference from List of Tables or List of Figures?
In my opinion the insertations of references ( \ref{} ) should all come
from the same meny as currently implemented in LyX.

Regards,

Staffan

** lyx means luxury in Swedish.
