Mostly logs and lack of user complaints. A quick spot checks also looks positive, for example the following message was produced by GMail with a UTF-8 encoding. This particular list was creating lots of warning messages prior to CharEnt.pm, and is now pretty silent. http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-chinese-gb%40lists.debian.org/msg08822.html What I have not done is gather stacks of messages that cause warnings in stock 2.6.11, run them with the new CharEnt.pm, and manually inspect their results.
