I got it almost all built, then some telescope projects stole my brain. I finally finished those projects, and took a day to get the Nixie display board running. It worked right away after fixing a couple software bugs. The controller uses a Teensy 3.2, and will live in a box in the engine compartment where all the engine sensors are located. There is an RS-422 SPI data link. I used 74HC595 shift registers and TD62083 driver arrays in a direct-drive design. The tubes are NL-4998 and NL-5870. It runs from 9V that's regulated on the controller board, using TaylorEdge HV supplies hiding behind the 5870s. I'm happy to share the design with anyone who's interested. I will let you know when it's installed in the car and displaying real numbers.
