Ze, Restart the computer and put it into single user mode. At either LILO or GRUB, type 'linux 1' at the prompt.
Then, once the computer has started, go into a terminal and type in 'su'. You won't need to enter in a password. Type in 'userconf' and change the root password. Reboot the system and you should be all set.
