[newbie] kuduz on boot

during bootup linux mandrake 7.0 (air) 

...Checking for new hardware /etc/rc.d/rc5.d/so5kudzu
145 segmentation fault line 46 /usr/sbin/kudzu -t 30

the above error message appears during boot

would like to resolve this issue.
