re: Vol.4 #203
George,
I can't buy into this from your dealer!
First of all the F-100 hasn't the features of the F5. Secondly, it does not
have the RGB meter. This alone makes the F5 viable for at least 5 years. The
F-100 is an unknown entity; it hasn't been market proven. The F5 cut it's
teeth a long time ago and the bugs are gone. As conservative as Nikon has
been for the past 30 years that I've been buying from them; I'll speculate
that they don't discontinue the F5 for at least 5 years. Hell they haven't
even made all the lenses S for silent, yet!
My 2 cents for what it's worth. [ -just as speculative as your dealer's ]

Talking to my Nikon dealer today. He, also the owner, said he was told by
Nikon
that the F100 might be cut significantly into the F5 sales. He also was
told that
Nikon may not keep the F5 around much longer.
