You asked about the 50/1.8 N lens.

The N means the lens has the wide, rubber focusing ring.  The older,
non-N lens had a narrow, metallic or plastic focusing ring.

Both lenses are identical optically, but the N lens is a lot more
pleasant to use.  :)
