*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1368094 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1368094
Java 8 adoption is faster than expected (at least for me). More than one important project is switching to it as a minimum requirement during the next months. A couple of examples: - EclipseLink 2.7.0: https://www.eclipse.org/eclipselink/ - current Spring Integration master: https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-integration/blob/master/build.gradle (see source and target compatibility for project spring-integration-core). It's quite surprising, though, that there's no official way to install it on the current Ubuntu LTS version. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of OpenJDK, which is subscribed to openjdk-8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1341628 Title: [needs-packaging]openjdk-8 in 14.04 Status in openjdk-8 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: openjdk-8 is now available in Utopic: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openjdk-8/+bug/1297065 According to the comments in that bug, a separate bug needs to be reported for backporting. I am especially interested in a package for 14.04, hence raising this specific bug.
