Nehme, It sounds like you do not need to create a custom view. You should be able to create a filter that generates the data and then use the existing bar chart and x-y plot views. You can specify a "Hint" in the server manager xml for a filter to tell it which view to go to. See the implementation of vtkPExtractHistogram and the corresponding ExtractHistogram entry in filters.xml for more details.
