Hum, if the JavaScript renderer successfully reduce the image size by 2 when interacting then your problem do not come from your cluster/ssh config. Moreover, do you face the same issue with our demo server ? (http://paraviewweb.kitware.com/) The only problem that I see and that I'm aware of is the communication between the applet and the browser. I always wanted to avoid it as it is not fully reliable on all the platform and use some direct networking communication but didn't had time yet to handle it.
