Age: 20 Mousepad: yes I've used both optical and laser mice (they're a bit different, but similar tech) and I've found that I like having the pad because it sets the "DPI" of the mouse consistently. My favorite mousepad is this cheap as hell thin rubber and cloth one that I got from dealextreme.com many years ago.
