--- Begin Message ---Package: libgtk2.0-0 Version: 2.8.16-1 Severity: normal We have an in house application used by 12 simultaneous users (Xvnc access). After upgrading to gtk2.8, the system became unuseable because it was too much loaded. Our analysis shows that the application + Xvnc use much more CPU than with gtk2.6. The main cause is scrolling, when changing the update policy to discontinuous, the load went down as normal. Something has changed in 2.8 that makes scrolling dead slow and cpu intensive. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16 Locale: LANG=POSIX, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages libgtk2.0-0 depends on: ii libatk1.0-0 1.11.3-1 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libc6 2.3.6-4 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libcairo2 1.0.2-3 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libfontconfig1 2.3.2-5 generic font configuration library ii libglib2.0-0 2.10.1-2 The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-bin 2.8.16-1 The programs for the GTK+ graphica ii libgtk2.0-common 2.8.16-1 Common files for the GTK+ graphica ii libjpeg62 6b-12 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libpango1.0-0 1.12.0-2 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libpng12-0 1.2.8rel-5 PNG library - runtime ii libtiff4 3.8.0-3 Tag Image File Format (TIFF) libra ii libx11-6 6.9.0.dfsg.1-5 X Window System protocol client li ii libxcursor1 1.1.3-1 X cursor management library ii libxext6 6.9.0.dfsg.1-5 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxi6 6.9.0.dfsg.1-5 X Window System Input extension li ii libxinerama1 6.9.0.dfsg.1-5 X Window System multi-head display ii libxrandr2 6.9.0.dfsg.1-5 X Window System Resize, Rotate and ii libxrender1 1:0.9.0.2-1 X Rendering Extension client libra Versions of packages libgtk2.0-0 recommends: ii hicolor-icon-theme 0.8-3 default fallback theme for FreeDes -- no debconf information<<attachment: load-year.png>>

Hi, I see, I will close the bug. If somebody else can reproduce this with up to date GTK+ (2.12) it would be interesting to compare different theme engines. -- Cheers, Sven Arvidsson http://www.whiz.se PGP Key ID 760BDD22signature.asc
