Package: sun-java6-jdk
Version: 6-02-1
Severity: normal

Currently it seems that each minor version is installed in a different directory. However, the packaging scheme only allows one version of "Java 6". This useless "high resolution" of directory names bring several problems for users which need to customize the JDK or JRE in some way not covered by the links to /etc . There's absolutely no need to do what the Java package does now, there's no other Debian package which does this (e.g. having gcc-4.1 4.1.0 and 4.1.1 in different directories). Suppose a package wanted to divert a file in Java... how would that package be able to do it without depending on an exact Java minor version (even when it doesn't need that). I can go on and on, please fix this. My current problem is the need to move some extensions from the old jre/lib/ext to the new jre/lib/ext for each minor Java upstream update.

Thanks.
